what you can experience
- Kiet Ngong Village: Ride on the back of an elephant to visit mysterious temple ruins and venture into the jungles of Xe Pian NPA. Take nature walks with village guides, canoe in the expansive wetlands, go for birdwatching and enjoy the homestay with local families or relax in luxury bungalows at the Kingfisher Ecolodge.
- Pha Pho Village: Go elephant trekking across the wetlands to the top of Langmong Mountain. Alternatively, spend half a day learning how elephants are an important part of the day-to-day work of local mahouts. Stay the night at the Boun Hom Guesthouse.
- Ta Ong Trail: Trek with expert local guides from Palai Village into the jungle and across the fields and learn about medicinal plants and how to spot wildlife. Stay overnight in the community guesthouse of Ban Ta Ong, an ethnic Brau village. Journey by canoe down the Ta Euang River and admire the many colourful birds and, if you are lucky, the long-tailed Macaques.
- Xe Pian River: Discover the refreshing Tad Saepha and Tad Samongphak waterfalls, on foot or by boat, with a local guide from Ban Mai (homestay available) in Attapeu Province. Alternatively, travel down the thickly forested Xe Pian River to see rare large waterbirds. Homestay with families in Ban Phonesaat or Ban Nongkae.
