Bringing Common Materials to a New Life

Smateria is all about transformation and diversity. While our craftsmen and women have diverse backgrounds, their hands and minds work together with a common purpose – to create and improve, learn and teach, day after day.
 
One of our primary goals is to prove that it’s possible to create high-quality products while adhering to fair trade principles. We believe that ethical profit is essential in business and that disadvantaged people can work seamlessly alongside others.
 

what we do

Smateria is a small handicraft workshop and store which designs and sells fashion accessories and costume jewellery. Here, local artisans shape various materials into new forms and ideas every day. All of our products are made from basic materials. Some are recycled and all are sourced locally.

Smateria aims to sustain the Cambodian tradition of sharing family trade. Members are trained and then given the opportunity and equipment to organize and share their work independently.
 
Smateria is a commercial enterprise set up by two partners who make a sustainable living selling unique and high-quality products often made from recycled packaging. We are determined to respect international rules of labour and safety and train and develop the skills of our employees in a non-exploitative manner.
