what you can experience

  • Learn how textiles are made and meet the weavers that make them. Our Weaving Centre is open daily. There is a free ‘interactive' exhibition that documents the whole weaving process, from silk worms to weaving. Try feeding the silkworms or weaving on our demo loom.
  • Weave or dye your own scarf. Classes and workshops give insight into Lao culture and the significance of weaving. Classes run from half a day to one week.
  • Discover the secrets of Lao textiles by visiting one of our galleries or the Weaving Centre, which showcase the work of the Weaving Centre artisans and a diverse collection of work from the Village Weaver Projects. Our staff are both knowledgeable and keen to guide you through the maze of Lao motifs.
  • Arrange a personalised talk to learn more about textiles and fair trade in Laos.
  • Support our activities by purchasing beautifully crafted textiles such as scarves, dresses, wall hangings or a bedspread, at one of our outlets in Luang Prabang or design your own textile and have it made.
