who we are

Kōpnoï, taken from the Lao language, means ‘little frog', a universal symbol for balance in the environment. It is also the name of our Export Promotion Center, a beautiful boutique-gallery, located in the village of Ban Aphay in Luang Prabang, near L'Etranger, Books & Tea. Our mission is to promote the best that Laos has to offer, both locally and internationally. 

After four years of developing an eco-dyed cotton apparel collection for men, women & kids, Kōpnoï's Center opened its doors in November 2005. Our selection also includes silk apparel and accessories, designer jewelry, home collection, as well as gift boxes, spices and delicacies. Working closely with artisans, villages, non-government organizations and non-profit producers, we constantly develop innovative products and create new collections for the modern life using traditional Lao skills. Most of our designs are unique and exclusive, all of which are entirely made in Laos.

We produce handmade products from natural materials and respect fair trade principles and equitable development. Our ethics are tangible and visible in every piece of quality attire we produce. We are proud to be part of a worldwide growing movement that uses business to actively achieve positive local and global changes.

To have a greater impact, we recommend visitors to make sure they purchase products made in Laos. It helps sustain the economy and provide villages with income that ensures them a better quality of life.  It also encourages the celebration of Lao culture and keeps it alive for future generations.
