who we are
Hoa Sua is a vocational school offering tourism and hospitality training in Hanoi. Our objective is to contribute to the fight against poverty in Vietnam by training young people, especially disadvantaged and disabled youth. Established in 1994, to date the school has helped nearly 4,000 youth find stable jobs and achieve social integration.
what we do
Every year, the school recruits 500 young people between 16 and 25 who live in difficult circumstances - orphans, street children, children of war invalids and extremely poor families, ethnic minorities and hearing-impaired children. The free training currently focuses on baking and pastry, European and Asian cooking, restaurant service, housekeeping, and sewing and embroidery. At least two-thirds of the time is dedicated to practical training.
In addition, Hoa Sua provides uniforms, accommodation, food, medical and psychological assistance and professional orientation, and support in job search when the students graduate. We make sure they are placed appropriately, ideally within their provinces.
We have a 100% success rate with placement, and all of our graduates have found stable employment with social equality. In December 2005, Hoa Sua received the "Human Rights Award of the French Republic" by the French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin in recognition of the school's efforts in the fight against the abuse of child labour.
We are self-funded, and in addition to the training centre in Linh Nam, we successfully manage three restaurants, two bakeries and a tailor in Hanoi and a small hotel in Sapa, all of which enable Hoa Sua to fund and improve its training activities whilst giving its students the opportunity to acquire some professional experience.
