who we are
Established in 1962, Cuc Phuong is the oldest national park in Vietnam. Located only 120km southwest of Hanoi and nestled between the provinces of Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh and Thanh Hoa, Cuc Phuong boasts magnificent limestone mountains, ethnic minorities and a rich ecosystem with some of Asia's rarest species, drawing researchers, naturalists, enthusiasts and conservationists alike.
The ancient forest boasts over 2,000 species of trees, 110 species of reptiles and amphibians and 125 mammals, including Clouded leopard, Delacour's langur, Owston's Civet and Asian Black Bear, and an incredible 308 documented bird species.
The rocky outcrops of Cuc Phuong also contain valuable archaeological vestiges dated at 200 - 230 million years old and numerous caves to explore. In addition, a few scattered villages around the park still house the Moung minority group where visitors can witness their unique culture.
what we do
At the Park's Visitor Centre, you will be introduced to some of the Cuc Phuong's valuable natural resources and its unique environment as well as several conservation agencies and organisations, working together to increase the conservation awareness of visitors. These incldue the Endangered Primate Rescue Center, the Turtle Conservation Center and the Botanical Gardens.
We are also working on small carnivore conservation for the last 10 years. The rescue and international breeding program for the rare Owston's Civet is currently expanding into a nation-wide program for civets, weasels, otters and cats, rescued from the wildlife trade.
