who we are

Cambodia Landmine Museum & Relief Facility

"I want to make my country safe for my people"
Aki Ra, Founder & Mine Cleaner

Landmines will continue to be a problem in Cambodia for years to come, but through awareness, safety, and prevention, we strive to protect Cambodian communities from further suffering and devastation. Through all of our activities, we work to ensure that Cambodia will one day become free of landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO).

what we do

The original Cambodia Landmine Museum was opened in 1998 by former child soldier Aki Ra. Aki Ra’s goal for the museum was to promote mine awareness and education for both tourists and Cambodians using his impressive collection of mines and UXO. It is estimated that he has cleared over 50,000 mines over the past 10 years.

In April 2007, a new museum and relief center was constructed to maximize Aki Ra’s humanitarian vision. The new facility cares for children affected by mines and poverty, providing them with a home and school. It also employs adult amputees and provides livelihood support to families. In addition, we educate tourists about landmine safety and outdated methods that Aki Ra learned as a soldier on clearing mines and UXO.

CLMMRF is a Canadian-founded NGO working to expand the humanitarian mandate of Aki Ra and his vision for a safe and prosperous Cambodia. It is supported by UNESCO, former Prime Minister of Canada Paul Martin, Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia His Excellency Sok An and Secretary-General of the CMAA His Excellency Sam Sotha.
