who we are
Imagine 1,500 tropical butterflies in a garden filled with mango, jasmine, water lily and hibiscus. After a long, hot day clambering over the temples, relax to the music of traditional Cambodian instruments and treat yourself to an ice cold foot bath, all the while enjoying a creative tropical meal. Welcome to Butterflies Garden Restaurant. Under new ownership and completely renovated, the Restaurant offers superb dining in an oasis, while providing benefits to the community.
what we do
Our social mission is to contribute in building a promising future for the disadvantaged youth in Siem Reap and Cambodia. We do this through providing them with restaurant training, former street children and communities living with HIV/AIDS with income-generating opportunities and supporting Khmer performance arts.
The butterflies in our garden are purchased from children living in a poor village near the Angkor archeological park, who use the income from the sale to attend school. For those who remain out of school, we are establishing Khmer and English language literacy programs so all children have the chance to access some form of education.
The chefs at our restaurant are graduates of the Shinta Mani Hospitality Institute, a hospitality training program for disadvantaged youth. We provide additional mentoring and training to further develop their culinary repertoire and skills.
