who we are
Supporting trade of Cambodian handicrafts
We are an organisation whose heart is in community development and sustainable economic trade. We are currently comprised of 33 handicraft groups who themselves support Cambodia's most vulnerable people, such as landmine victims and trafficked women. We develop our members through training and facilitating promotion and export assistance.
what we do
For centuries, Cambodia has been home to some of the world's most beautiful handicrafts. The Khmer Rouge period almost destroyed the once prosperous traditions of weaving, woodcarving, pottery and handicraft production. Today these art forms are making a comeback. Organizations across Cambodia are involved in training disadvantaged Cambodians to once again produce these beautiful items, combining unique traditional methods with attractive modern designs.
We are committed to helping our members, both non-government organizations and social enterprises, to develop their services and ensure that benefits are passed down to the artisans. We provide ongoing support in the production and sale of members' handicrafts. To the artisans, we promise good working conditions and a fair wage.
In operation since 2000, we are a member of the International Fair Trade Association and the Asia Fair Trade Forum, and work in close partnership with the Royal Government of Cambodia.
