About us
Stay-another-day.org was set up to provide you with the best of what tourism has to offer - a chance to really get to know the countries you are visiting. Covering the Mekong region of Cambodia, Lao PDR and Vietnam, we bring together interesting things to do or buy by highlighting organisations that not only offer noteworthy experiences and souvenirs but are also giving back to the local communities.
These three countries have a wealth of attractions for travellers of all ages: historic temples, rich culture, stunning landscape, colourful local markets, and fantastic food to suit any budget...
However, how many times have we travelled to a country and felt like we've only just glimpsed the real country? And how many times did we become conscious that despite the rapid growth in tourism, the benefits have not always trickled down to those who are most in need?
Stay-another-day.org aims to remedy this. The initiatives listed on this website are community projects, NGOs or businesses with a strong social conscience that support poor communities, conserve traditional heritage or cultural assets, or preserve the natural environment for the future.
By spending some time (and possibly money) to support an initiative that is caring for their destination, you can have a great holiday, learn more about the culture, society or environment and know your visit has helped to make a difference...
So why not Stay Another Day and get to know the countries better?
Stay-another-day.org is an initiative by the Mekong Private Sector Development Facility (IFC-MPDF), a multi-donor funded initiative set up by the International Finance Corporation in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Lao PDR, to reduce poverty through sustainable private sector development. The Stay Another Day booklet for Cambodia was published with support from German Technical Corporation (GTZ) Private Sector Promotion Program.
